Living Coral

Commission for Finding Ctrl (2019)

Instant and endless gratification is underscored by immense boredom. Here exists an odd breed of democracy where trash and pop culture stand alongside history, fact, fiction and sex. Using Pantone’s 2019 Color of the Year ‘Living Coral’ as a base cultural signifier, this piece attempts to capture a sense of the perpetual now.

Xanthe acknowledges the traditional owners of the land on which their work is made, the Widjabul/Wyabul people of the Bundjalung Nation, the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, and the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. They pay their respects to elders, past, present, and emerging.  Sovereignty was never ceded. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
